Started by Gregory Rivera and Mikail Bortnik in Brooklyn, New York City, Mishka is a streetwear brand first inspired by many subcultures of the neighbourhood. These sub cultural influences included 80s underground punk, skate communities and underground music scenes of early 2000s. The first shop of the brand was opened in the year 2003. Mishka literal translation is ‘Bear Cub’ in Russian. Pop culture, b-movies, indie rock, comics, horror and heavy metal in general also influence Mishka Clothing brand designs.
